From XP to Windows 7

It was interesting to read some new speculations about the upcoming release of Internet Explorer 8.

It was even more interesting to learn that IE9 might come around 2010 along with new version of Windows (Windows 7 for that matter). I don't know what to think, I still might be using XP by that time and be happy with it.

Quick notes about gifts

I just read that Wii and iPod are the top searches for Christmas gadget presents across Europe. Is that so? They are definitely not on my wish list. I'd rather prefer some good camera. What is nowadays a good camera, anyway?

Hybrid Cars are only a small step in the right direction.

"All About Cars" writes: "There are two varieties of hybrid automobiles. The mild hybrid features a gas-powered engine that supplies the main propulsion to move the car down the highway. An electrical motor provides an added assist in situations where an extra power thrust is needed. The electrical motor also serves to recharge the car battery while the car is on the highway. The full hybrid features a gas-powered engine, with an electric motor and battery as well, but in the full hybrid the electric motor can power the car on its own under certain circumstances. These features will give your new hybrid automobile the best in gas saving features."
With the gasoline prices going higher and higher, I wonder how long it will take to develop a more affordable technology to power cars engines.

Tulips in the spring

Just found it in an article on spring gardening: "...tulips and daffodils have built in antifreeze that makes them very hardy for spring and able to withstand sudden cold snaps. In fact, to get these bulbs to bloom you need a period of dormancy where the bulbs are exposed to freezing temperatures before the warmth of Spring coxes the flowers out into the open."

Got stuck with the player

I was preparing to watch this new DVD that I've got for the weekend ("Employee Of The Month"). But I quickly found out that my player can't read it. It probably has some different regional settings. I'm not sure how it works. Most likely I will have to pick up some other disc.

To read or not to read

I've got several new books this week. I'll see today which one I will pick for reading first. There is "Sweetwater Creek" by Ann Rivers, "Sun Kissed" by Catherine Anderson and "Slow Burn" by Julie Garwood. Anyway, I've got other things to do as well. Like putting together the album of my favorite scans. Here's one that looks good to me:
